CDF

I read DAVID P RUMBARGER wants an exemption for the furniture industry from Chinese tariffs. The whole idea of the tariffs is to bring manufacturing back to the United States. Many of the parts and covers are manufactured in China where the workers get paid slave wages and have very few benefits or protections from hazards and industrial wastes. China is destroying the environment and people’s health. All this so the furniture company owners can make a profit from the low costs of the parts and pay low wages here in Mississippi.

A better solution is to manufacture all the components here in Mississippi using automation and high skilled employees. Being more efficient can bring down the costs to be competitive with the China made products. Mississippi does not have the employee skills to build the robots to make the furniture because the organizations like CDF keep wages low for its members. If the industry trained the employees to design and maintain automation everyone wins in Mississippi because the citizens will have more disposable income. We can export products rather than import them.

This solution requires lots of hard work and a tenacity to move Mississippi off of the bottom income of states. I suspect it will cause a big change in ownership of business which does not sit well with the CDF membership.

The Real Reasons

There are several drivers for the mammal declines. The introduction of invasive species that outcompete or spread disease to native animals is a big problem. Road deaths also take a toll as does pesticide use. According to previous studies, hedgehogs are suffering because people in urban and suburban areas keep their lawns and gardens too tidy—the animals need overgrown bushes, leaf litter and other habitat to survive. In rural areas, increased use of pesticides is killing off the insects the hedgies nibble on. “We are concerned about the lack of food in sterile fields where lots of pesticides and chemicals are used – there are also larger scale farms so there are less hedgerows for hedgehogs to use,”

In 1900 world population was 1.3 billion. The North American continent had 100 million natives before the white man brought disease. In 1964 the U.S. population was 200 million.

Most of the world has a pecking order based on different factors. Wars have killed millions of people as clashes between values and cultures reached boiling points.

In today’s modern world we have almost 8 billion fighting for a better quality life and who gets to populate the world with their genes, values and culture. As the better educated realize that a better life depends on quality health and a limit to our ability to provide our children with the best chance for survival, we try to be more efficient in our use of resources and our ability to create those resources. Today a child costs $250,000 to raise to end of high school not counting the parent time spending with that child to provide the knowledge needed by them for a future. Add college and you have a sum few people in the world can provide their children much less 5-10 children.

The U.S. tax payer simply does not have the resources to provide these services to the billions of refugees who want a better life. How would you solve the problem?

Politics, Religion, Intelligence

Life is not easy and requires sifting through lots of information and experience which is filtered through our perceptions. Then we have self generated feelings, emotions, senses, memory, unconscious, imagination, unknowns, etc. Much of the brain’s activity is formed by neuron connections formed by habits.

We view the world in these individual ways as the genetic code makes our unique combination of brain chemicals the skew brain operations. Life is only as we know it and practice behavior that encourages good subjective feelings.

On the other side we have reality that is cause and effect of some factors we are aware of and many factors that are unknown. Nature that uses laws both know and unknown to produce cause and effect does not have the human qualities each of us is endowed with. This means most all the perceptions of fairness, morality, equality, etc. are human constructs. Human constructs form both politics and religion. Some human constructs define intelligence.

Intelligence allows us to have better probability to affect things that happen. Keep all this in mind the next time you take an action of any kind including eating, voting, working, consuming, thinking, believing, and any other human activity that continues humanity.

Google

Google stores your location (if you have it turned on) every time you turn on your phone, and you can see a timeline from the first day you started using Google on your phone, going in so far as the time of day I was in the location and how long it took me to get to that location from my previous one.Google stores search history across all your devices on a separate database, so even if you delete your search history and phone history, Google STILL stores everything until you go in and delete everything, and you have to do this on all devices.Google creates an advertisement profile based on your information, including your location, gender, age, hobbies, career, interests, relationship status, possible weight (need to lose 10lbs in one day?) and income.Google stores information on every app and extension you use, how often you use them, where you use them, and who you use them to interact with (who do you talk to on facebook, what countries are you speaking with, what time you go to sleep at. Google stores ALL of your YouTube history, so they know whether you’re going to be a parent soon, if you’re a conservative, if you’re a progressive, if you’re Jewish, Christian, or Muslim, if you’re feeling depressed or suicidal, if you’re anorexic…Google offers an option to download all of the data it stores about you, I’ve requested to download it and the file is 5.5GB BIG, which is roughly 3 MILLION Word documents.Your bookmarks, emails, contacts, your Google Drive files, all of the above information, your YouTube videos, the photos you’ve taken on your phone, the businesses you’ve bought from, the products you’ve bought through Google.our calendar, your Google hangout sessions, your location history, the music you listen to, the Google books you’ve purchased, the Google groups you’re in, the websites you’ve created, the phones you’ve owned, the pages you’ve shared, how many steps you walk in a day.

Government Waste

“It opened in 2005 and cost $214 million, although the lab area that handles the most fearsome bugs didn’t begin work until 2009. It replaced a CDC lab that had operated for 20 years. The architect firm that worked on it, HDR Inc., predicted the building would serve the CDC for 50 years. Now it needs to be shut down so they need $400 million for a new lab.

Tupelo calls consultants in to tell politicians what they want to hear. Few disclose the real facts as they sell their services. Everything becomes obsolete and needs continuous maintenance that requires a yearly budget to replace things before the predicted life runs out. When has Tupelo done that?

Opportunity or Marketing?

Many doors are called opportunities when they are opened by a marketer. The only real opportunities are those you create yourself. Those successful billionaires that started with nothing did not wait for some big corporation to build a plant or government to give them a job.

An example is the marketing for Presidents Day is presented by the news media as and opportunity to buy for less when in fact the retailer pays the same for the goods as he does all year unless he is getting a volume discount. This means you can get the cheaper price anyway as long as you talk with the owner. Many people are suffering from the psychological manipulation of propaganda and never ever know they are pawns used by the people in power.

Perhaps public schools should teach the psychology used to make the citizen into a worker/consumer.

artificial intelligence (AI)

All the knowledge of humans can be saved and stored for algorithms to take advantage of and to control the very needs of human survival. The quest for better quality and more efficient use of energy and resources is always continuing improvement. What is local government doing to improve its efficiency and lower cost of its services? Will machines be controlling humans? Why are we accepting the same old ways of doing things when AI is passing the backward humans?
Who is responsible for improving government operations?

How about higher human intelligence? Maybe eugenics? Gene manipulation? Implants in the brain? Where are poor decisions taking humanity? We can do better with better parenting skills.

How would humans keep AI from taking over and destroying humanity?

The bottom line is power corrupts so be careful who or what you allow to have power.

Support Freedom and Liberty

Should the government regulate emotions? Many people have different views and the founding fathers have defended freedom of speech short of slander as an American right worth fighting for. Sticks and stones can break bones but names do not harm me. Our education system has forget how to teach emotional control. The people of MS voted to keep the historic flag and it will continue. Because some have not learned emotional control they want to take freedoms away from the majority of mature citizens. No attempt to rob the freedoms fought for, change the responsible from demanding those freedoms. The U.S. has done many ugly things to maintain power including killing millions in a civil war. This must not be forgotten especially in textbooks laced with political propaganda. This is coming from a yankee.

Fuel Tax

The law makers in Jackson are not looking out for the best of the citizens. Roads and bridges are falling apart and the government does not have the money to fix them. So they want to add more taxes on fuel while giving a small break on income taxes. What is wrong with this picture? First few Mississippi citizens are getting raises above inflation and an added tax will mean cutbacks some place such as less driving fewer trips to the mall and fast food. Not taking low pay jobs far away and an increase of costs that are passed on to the customer such as lawn care deliveries etc.

What we need is a better quality more efficient way to have roads. We could use recycles plastics for road beds and have roads last three times as long. Who would be the losers? The road building companies and the law makers that get campaign contributions from them.

We need to elect law makers that are bright enough and wise enough to see the big picture and act with virtue not personal greed.

Would the genetics be passed on to the children?
Similarities in brain activity could be used to predict friendships
Results are evidence that people tend to befriend people who think in a similar way, scientists say
“Our results suggest that friends process the world around them in exceptionally similar ways.”

The scientists said their research is consistent with the concept of “neural homophily” – the idea that people tend to be friends with individuals who see the world in a similar way.

“The notion that people tend to resemble their friends is an enduring intuition, as evidenced by the centuries-old adage, ‘birds of a feather flock together’,” they wrote in the paper documenting their study, which was published in the journal Nature Communications.
