More People, More Food, More Pollution Reduced Quality of Life

Flowing 2,300 miles from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, the Mississippi River provides drinking water, food and jobs for millions of people. A journey downriver reveals how the agricultural industry is contributing to one of the nation’s biggest ecological disasters.

The earth is one limited resource with a very delicate environment. We see problems every day about how humans are destroying mother earth. Global warming, shortage of clean water, air pollution, finite minerals, extinct species, plastic in the oceans, loss of coral reefs, melting of ice and the rising seas. Humans at war and having mental problems, deaths from drugs, population bubbles, contaminated ground water and loss of aquifers. Deception and data mining manipulating populations.

Do we really think growth is going to make things better?

Education

“By next year, an estimated 70% of jobs in Washington State will require some sort of post-secondary credential.”

Mississippi seems to be happy just getting 70% of the children graduated from High School. Tupelo needs a graduate school and research center that employs over 2000 professionals. This does not happen when the state promotes factory workers as an accomplishment. They do not even make the average American wage. The present Tupelo airport would make a good place to build such a University. Move the airport out to farm country.

Why Politically Correctness?

John Cleese is being branded a racist for daring to repeat his observation that London “is not really an English city” anymore ‘I think it’s legitimate to prefer one culture over another.’Since then, virtually all my friends from abroad have confirmed my observation

So there must be some truth in it. I prefer cultures that do not tolerate female genital mutilation. Will this will be considered racist by all those who hover, eagerly hoping that someone will offend them – on someone else’s behalf, naturally.Cleese has long been impatient with those who push political correctness and a supposed right to never be offended, saying in 2016 that “all humor is critical. If we start saying, ‘Oh, we mustn’t criticize or offend them,’ then humor is gone, and with humor goes a sense of proportion — and then, as far as I’m concerned, you’re living in ‘1984.’ So the idea that you have to be protected from any kind of uncomfortable emotion is one I absolutely do not subscribe to.”

Diverse cultures do not live under the same laws. What is wrong with different people wanting different lifestyles that are not compatible with moral, ethical and religious beliefs?

Two Changes

Our laws need two changes to make America great again. First change corporate laws to make the board members and the top officers personally responsible for corporate wrong doing. Second eliminate lobbyists from contributing to lawmakers campaigns or any affiliation that benefits the law maker.

Causes and Consequences

Hindsight bias is one of the most widely studied of what are known as ‘decision traps’, in which people routinely employ mental shortcuts to simplify decisions when they’re not certain; decisions that are often skewed by cognitive biases: we guess something improbable will happen. As we bet the farm on it but then are disappointed.

We base our thinking on skewed probabilities fed us by lobbyists and marketing. The media is always using psychological manipulation to use you to benefit someone or others to your disadvantage. You need a lot of timely and clear feedback before you render a decision. Most politicians and consumers do not make the effort or are taking short term happiness instead of long term quality results. Happiness does not last it is only an emotion. As soon as we fell happiness it fades and we are searching for more.

When making decisions consider what happened before, but fold in new pieces of information, widen the field, incorporate new data along with old data. What people have to remember is they’re succumbing to an even broader bias called omission neglect – a tendency to consider only the evidence we have available to us.

Thomas Bayes’s premise was to consider all sources of information but weight them: some information is more valuable, but all information has some value. Weight that information appropriately and you tend to make the best decision… make decisions based on what the data says is likely to happen, not what you think is going to happen.
Anything that reduces people’s confidence in predicting something will happen or the pathway in which something will happen is a good way to go about it.

Tupelo and Mississippi has a big problem in education as it is focused on job training rather than a broad understanding of life. The Tupelo bus transit decision is a prime example of poor government decisions based on ignoring the facts and not weighing them.

Retail Downfall

There is no doubt the world is changing especially with electronic communication. Society seems to have less time and enjoying it less. Everything is in a hurry and free time used to just rest. It would be better to use all our time in an enjoyable environment. It is the educational product of MBA programs to make higher profits. Higher profits do not make better lives. Time spent screwing your neighbor is not enjoyable time. Corporations see bigger profits in bigger businesses because they seem to be more efficient. Bigger businesses fail at providing a friendly environment and customer service to the buying public. Many customers do not want to deal with the unfriendly retail outlet so the have a better relationship with on line machines.

The system is broke and it starts with the very purpose of education. Education is not job training but rather a life long pursuit to understand life to make a bette person. When corporations us psychology to manipulate the individual, that individual does not contribute their personal best to humanity. Everyone is less happy.

Problems with Insurance

“Federal prosecutors are charging 60 doctors, pharmacists, medical professionals and others in connection with alleged opioid pushing and health care fraud, the Justice Department said Wednesday.” When the government or insurance companies pay the bill there is always fraud and greed. Without the customer keeping check on their dollar the world begs to be taken advantage of. Paying that monthly insurance payment does not equate to health care protection. The system is broke when the middle man has the power.

Software Engineers

Would you put your life in the hands of a foreign different culture software writer? When driving, flying, medical care, etc. your life depends on the equipment and people in control. If those people have different values and beliefs that you may not agree with you could be subject to death by reasons not of your own.

Poor Grounding

Cattle farmers in France say their stock are dying off from exposure to electricity generated by nearby wind turbines and solar panels, blaming lethal levels of volts through the ground and water sources for their losses. Technicians of the new mandated non fossil fuel electric generation system lack the knowledge of how complicated networked grid systems are. Grounding is one of the most important parts of electric distribution.

Objective Reality?

A quantum experiment suggests there’s no such thing as objective reality

Physicists have long suspected that quantum mechanics allows two observers to experience different, conflicting realities. Now they’ve performed the first experiment that proves it.And today, Massimiliano Proietti at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and a few colleagues say they have performed this experiment for the first time: they have created different realities and compared them. Their conclusion is that Wigner was correct—these realities can be made irreconcilable so that it is impossible to agree on objective facts about an experiment.
So the two realities are at odds with each other. “This calls into question the objective status of the facts established by the two observers,” say Proietti and co.
