Cell Phones and Health

“In a surprising move this week, however, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) weighed in on the debate, warning people, especially kids, to stay away from cellphones whenever possible. The agency also issued guidelines on how to reduce exposure to radio frequency energy.”“Although the science is still evolving, there are concerns among some public health professionals and members of the public regarding long-term, high use exposure to the energy emitted by cellphones,” Dr. Karen Smith, CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer, said in a statement. Aside from brain and head cancer, the guidelines note, radio frequency energy has been suspected of causing infertility, headaches, and memory or learning problems.

Everything has risks so weight them against the benefits. Do we always need instant communication?

Last Again

The 10 least healthy states:
Mississippi
Louisiana
Arkansas
Alabama
West Virginia
Tennessee
South Carolina
Oklahoma
Kentucky
Georgia
For the second year in a row, Mississippi (No. 50) has the greatest opportunity for improvement in
overall health. Why are we building monuments with tax money instead of improving the health of the citizens?

EXCITONIUM

PHYSICS BREAKTHROUGH: NEW FORM OF MATTER, EXCITONIUM, FINALLY PROVED TO EXIST AFTER 50-YEAR SEARCH.

This is not taught in H.S. physics because the teachers are not qualified and the system is controlled by government standards. The best learning is when the unknown is confusing not when students are forced to memorizes facts. If we want better STEM students we need better teaching and move away from standards.

Excitonium

The feeing of awed wonder that science can give us is one of the highest experiences of which the human psyche is capable. It is a deep aesthetic passion to rank with the finest that music and poetry can deliver. It is truly one of the things that makes life worth living.

Escape Room

*An escape room is the latest rage – you get locked into a fully furnished room and must solve a series of puzzles to find the key to escape.

What they are doing to empty malls.

CRISPR

CRISPR can be described as a pair of designer molecular scissors because of its core function: to home in on specific 20 letter DNA sequences and cut apart both strands of the double helix. This function allows gene-editing so the scientists can do repair and changes in the genes which are the maps for the cells that make life.

This opens the door to many questions about ethics, morals, religion, laws and many other areas for example designer humans or the perhaps the end of death. Our society is wasting its time on emotional candy as we have a a responsibility to control the course of humanity. Why is the media spending time on people’s sex lives when the whole future is depended on the citizens understanding science and the few using it to meet their idea of what the future should be?

Question the Steps We Take Through the Door

Technology “merely opens a door, it does not compel one to enter.”
First Law: “Technology is neither good nor bad; nor is it neutral.”
Second Law: Invention is the mother of necessity. “Every technical innovation seems to require additional technical advances in order to make it fully effective.”

Third Law: Technology comes in packages, big and small. “The fact is that today’s complex mechanisms usually involve several processes and components.”

Fourth Law: Although technology might be a prime element in many public issues, nontechnical factors take precedence in technology-policy decisions. “… many complicated sociocultural factors, especially human elements, are involved, even in what might seem to be ‘purely technical’ decisions.” “Technologically ‘sweet’ solutions do not always triumph over polit- ical and social forces.”

Fifth Law: All history is relevant, but the history of technology is the most relevant. “Although historians might write loftily of the importance of historical understanding by civilized people and citizens, many of today’s students simply do not see the relevance of history to the present or to their future. I suggest that this is because most history, as it is currently taught, ignores the technological element.”

Sixth Law: Technology is a very human activity-and so is the history of technology. “Behind every machine, I see a face-indeed, many faces: the engineer, the worker, the businessman or businesswoman, and, sometimes, the general and admiral. Further- more, the function of the technology is its use by human beings-and sometimes, alas, its abuse and misuse.”

Gentrification

Gentrification is a sore subject in many parts of Denver, as an influx of people moving to the city from elsewhere and a surge of new development drives up rents and homes prices and forces some longtime residents to consider moving from neighborhoods they have long called home.

Tupelo government is trying to upgrade poverty areas. This move has winners and losers. To climb out of poverty people need skills and a business to use them. The city can renovate housing but lacking opportunity and people with the cognitive ability to take advantage of it will result in the same old trap Tupelo is historically known for. Increasing menial low pay employment does not solve the drug and crime problems.

The big question is what do the city leaders do with the number of people that do not have the skills and ability to better themselves? Mississippi is famous for taking Federal government handouts they did not earn. How do we improve and create a state that exports more than it imports? That includes intellectual property.

Better family education would be a improvement of the way many spend their time rather than on entertainment.

I am just pointing out subjects that many politically correct leaders are embarrassed to discuss in public. Please understand we must solve these problems to survive.

What is Time?

The only time we have is now. Everyone is at a slightly different time. What does gravity have to do with it?

““An asymmetry must exist here somewhere, but we simply do not understand where the difference is,” Smorra said, Newsweek noted. “What is the source of the symmetry break?”

What does time and gravity have to do with it? What about entropy being part of the mix?

Inovation

“Here’s something that may sound like a contradiction in terms: low-fat pigs.

But that’s exactly what Chinese scientists have created using new genetic engineering techniques.

In a paper published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the scientists report that they have created 12 healthy pigs with about 24 percent less body fat than normal pigs.”

““Doctors are doing amazing things with [human] stem cells,” says Jebelli, including reprogramming them into brain cells that are then implanted into Alzheimer’s patients’ brains. This treatment will require more research and time, but Jebelli says it’s “still a possibility.”

Given the potential of stem cells and drugs that could prevent the disease from developing, Jebelli is quite optimistic about the future of Alzheimer’s prevention and treatment. He says: “We’re at the beginning of the end.”
While Mississippi outlaws cloning and shoots its economic self in the foot.

Added-HOW LIFE BEGAN: MISSING LINK CHEMICAL IN FIRST LIVING CELL DISCOVERED
A team of scientists working to replicate the conditions of early Earth in modern lab experiments may have cracked one of the key problems in understanding how life began. They think they’ve found a compound that plausibly could have been present and could have handled phosphorylation, a step required to produce several building blocks of life.

Fear that beliefs are not an accurate description of life on earth prevent the needed research in Mississippi to find out what really happened to start life. When do we start to question traditions?

Hypocrite

It seems that much of the public awareness is just watching acting. The news media is hype to stir emotions, marketing tries to get you to buy, groups want you to join their cause and donate. Many service workers put on a smile or show to please you even when they hate your guts. It is all about money or some type of greed. Look at the republican congressman that is against abortion until it is his girlfriend that gets pregnant. Police that take bribes or steal from those they arrest. Corporations that tell you the customer comes first but then are cheating to increase profits. Charities that pay executives high salaries and expenses. Religious organizations that abuse children and hide it then pay because of the courts but do not punish the offender.

Fake news is the result of hypocrites that want the truth but lie about it. Government is for all the people not just special causes that benefit a few. What ever happened to the truth that most people just do not know what is happening? Most people do not know if the media is telling the truth. I do not think the media even knows if what it is reporting is truth or some kind of marketing stunt. Have you seen those stories about some product or service that looks like a news story only to find out it is written by a corporate person as a news release.

In these days of mass communication less and less of what we see and read is truth.
