Crash Avoidance Systems

The new electronics on automobiles does not avoid crashes it causes them. This holiday weekend I have seen many crashes due to the computers on cars. When dense traffic is going down the interstate people only leave 2-3 car lengths at 60-70 MPH. then if some one changes lanes the distance is short enough to trigger the computer to put on the breaks. This causes a chain reaction that ends in a pileup involving several fender benders and a traffic jam for miles as one lane gets blocked. The computers are not ready to be controlling things humans can do better.

Immigration

In history the Greeks and Romans invaded lands and and both killed people or took them as slaves. When the europeans came to North America they tried to do the same. The Native American fought back but was defeated. Now with all this new appropriated land the new American government needed warm bodies to settle the land and defend it. Not much care was given to the quality of settler except that they were not sick and were able to fend for themselves. Many could not make it on their own and died. The French were delighted to send their homeless poor to get rid of them so they gave the American government a huge statue in the New York Harbor. In 1900 the world population was 1.3 billion. Today the world population is over 7.3 billion as human deplete earth’s resources faster than nature can renew them. There are 4 billion people living on less than $3 a day. They would love to move to the United States where the welfare check pays $24 a day.

The problem is the world resources can only support 2 billion people living middle class lifestyle and maintain a healthy environment. What to do with the excess 5.3 billion people? It is obvious that the environment is suffering under the strain of over use of resources. In the last 50 years 60% of the known species have gone extinct and not replaced by new species. Climate change is changing habitable land areas. Pollution is destroying the oceans and the available clean water. Air in cities is not suitable to breath. Americans are at the top of the food chain in using available natural resources per person.

It is not possible for this trend to continue and have humanity survive. What to do? First humanity has got to limit population especially eliminate growth till we can move to another planet. Moving more people up the ladder to consume more resources only speeds up the destruction. Many people live in a poor environment with fighting for resources. Corrupt governments and lawlessness makes it very difficult to have a family and support them. It is not possible for everyone who wants to start a family to do so. How can a decision be made that some get families and others do not? Survival of the fittest for the present environment?

In order to maintain a comfortable lifestyle the United States can no longer take the homeless poor as we have no more land to settle. To stay on top we need the brightest and healthy individuals that embrace our values. We can not tax the present population to support people that are not able to compete in our society. Think about where humanity is going and is it a good idea to have a child you can not provide a future for.

Tupelo Bus Service

It does not take a consultant to figure out a transit system in Tupelo is not cost effective. Consultants tell you what you want to hear for a fee. It is true a small number of people in Tupelo have a difficult time getting places they need to go if they are alone. Most have family and friends help them. Some can afford a taxi when they need it. Very few ride bicycles in all kinds of weather but they do not have daily obligations like a regular employment. Many employers help organize car pools to get their workers to the business. The city would have spent better having a website where workers can share rides. Then we come to Uber, a service that helps both the car owner and the person needing a ride. But the greedy regulations set by the rich people in town to protect profits of the members of Create and CDF prevent competition to the taxi company. We need creative thinking not the slavery of old Mississippi to control wages, education and standard of living of those stuck in the poverty loop. Having children that they can not afford is a direct result of the strict abortion laws. Going into debt is a direct result of local marketing and low wages.

Lack of high paying vocations is a direct result of regulations in Mississippi like laws against cloning or needing a license to make a coffin. The education system is focused on making workers for corporations rather than the learning of the philosophy of life and how to pursue a life worth living. Technology is always changing so learning an obsolete technical skill is wasting time. Learning how to teach yourself is a skill that never becomes obsolete. A great community is measure by the virtue it teaches not the quest to get an award.

When we get better qualified people elected to the city council we will have a better community without public pools, public transit and recycle programs that cost the public rather than reward them for their efforts. Perhaps we should make roads with the recycled plastic. But that just might cut into the profits of the asphalt company member of CDF.
