What is Good Government?

“Money Doesn’t Solve Problems. People Solve Problems.”

When we watch the media report on the problems government faces they add an emotional bias. Quotes and selective cuts mold a catastrophic entertainment to the mix. Everything seems to focus on the importance of the value of money which is noting more than a promise to do a favor. Many can not deliver on promises because the request is outside of their abilities. Throwing money at the problem does not fix the problem of what people do.

An example on the news is the new republican candidate for Governor wants to add another year of schooling to Mississippi public schools. This is not solving the problem of the educational system in Mississippi. First we need to define what education is and what it is not. Education is teaching wisdom, sharping abilities and intellectual thinking and introducing new experiences and skills to be the foundation for life long learning. Education is not job training which employers should do and fund, not the taxpayer.

Mississippi is at the bottom of the lists on both economic and educational scales because the politicians do not understand the problems of how children become adults. First there is parenting skills which are severely lacking especially when people in poverty have children they can not afford or have the time to spend with their children. Next there is the upper class helicopter parents that control every aspect of the child’s life preventing personal growth through random experiences and problem solving.

These problems are not solved by money but rather by people.

Half Human

“Overflowing garbage, feces on roads prompt Yosemite National Park officials to close some campgrounds”

When the voter has compassion and empathy they are not also considering the carelessness of those they provide help to. Many humans do not want to have self control or care about the effects of their behaviors. Many never had parents that cared about the big picture of what kind of future they are making for their children.

Many parents never think about the world when they have a desire for sex. Today it costs over a quarter of a million dollars to raise a child to 18 and that is not including college. Where are the immigrants prepared to produce that sum without an education or skills to provide humanity in trade?

Artificial Intelligence

Self driving cars and trucks are not wanted mixed with humans. Most machines programed to take human work have malfunctions that can harm humans. It becomes a matter of probability which can be bad luck.

” Wielding Rocks and Knives, Arizonans Attack Self-Driving Cars” Humans make errors and have emotions based on sometimes fake facts. Fake facts are what many use as propaganda to manipulate other humans for benefits. Corruption seems OK to those that lack moral and ethical codes we all agree on. In a democracy or democratic republic we rarely have a high probability that most people agree.

How are machines going to reconcile disagreements of humans?
