“Here’s something that may sound like a contradiction in terms: low-fat pigs.

But that’s exactly what Chinese scientists have created using new genetic engineering techniques.

In a paper published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the scientists report that they have created 12 healthy pigs with about 24 percent less body fat than normal pigs.”

““Doctors are doing amazing things with [human] stem cells,” says Jebelli, including reprogramming them into brain cells that are then implanted into Alzheimer’s patients’ brains. This treatment will require more research and time, but Jebelli says it’s “still a possibility.”

Given the potential of stem cells and drugs that could prevent the disease from developing, Jebelli is quite optimistic about the future of Alzheimer’s prevention and treatment. He says: “We’re at the beginning of the end.”

Added-HOW LIFE BEGAN: MISSING LINK CHEMICAL IN FIRST LIVING CELL DISCOVERED
A team of scientists working to replicate the conditions of early Earth in modern lab experiments may have cracked one of the key problems in understanding how life began. They think they’ve found a compound that plausibly could have been present and could have handled phosphorylation, a step required to produce several building blocks of life.

Fear that beliefs are not an accurate description of life on earth prevent the needed research in Mississippi to find out what really happened to start life. When do we start to question traditions?
